Oh, how elephant mugs make the days so much brighter

It was a typical Saturday afternoon softball, baking endeavors, and tree climbing and well, Toots and I wanted some added adventure to our Saturday afternoon. Toots wanted film and I needed some pudding so we put two and two together and made an adventure out of it. So on went the helmets saddle bags and we were on our way to Target. The next hour was spent picking out some little treats for the fam, determining which animal cracker box suited our personalities better, picking out Mary Engelbreit stationary, and just exploring.

Red vines rule the world! Even though they taste disgusting they are my brothers favorite candy and are still pretty awesome.

 Oh, how I love nesquick!
My new elephant mug from World Market I can't wait to use it!

All tangled up

When its late and my head hits the pillow Im not sure how that big knot of sadness can ever be untangled. My mind shifts quickly to my favorite song I hum the parts I remember best over and over again. I think of all those Bible verses Ive learned over the years all the words of wisdom given to me. Slowly my tears turn into tears of joy and comfort and the big knot inside me starts to  untangle. Before I know it the knot is almost gone and even though I know there will be many more nights perhaps with bigger problems and more tears I know everything will be ok even if doesn't seem like it, because I know no problem is too big for my great Lord. In fact, all those "knots" of sadness are part of a bigger picture that Christ has all planned out just for me.

Little weekend adventures

This weekend was simply wonderful! When Friday afternoon ended I thought the weekend would be pretty normal but when a little hang out time with some friends evolved into a sleepover it added so much to my weekend.

It was such a beautiful day that right off the bat we decided to ride our bikes to the park, have a picnic, and climb trees
So while Toots and Hannah made no bake cookies Natalie and I drew a poster and talked. When everything was ready we packed the cookies and a blanket in our bikes saddle bags and rode to the park where we climbed trees, laughed, and ate cookies.

Just your average cookie lovers for ya!

Between <<sleeping in a tent when its 35 degrees>>
<<watching Anne Of Green Gables>> <<no-bake cookies>> <<"covering" the night with two Kony posters stapled to light poles>>
<<early morning Leave it to Beaver>> <<pancake breakfasts>>
<<softball practice>> <<long bike rides>>
<<barefoot walks>> << new chacos>> <<colorfully painted toenails>>
<<Climbing higher than I've ever climbed in a tree before>>
it really has been a weekend filled with many wonderful adventures

Just one of those weeks

It's been one go those weeks.
Im sure you've all had weeks like that.
Altogether it's been one of the best weeks Iv'e had in a while and yet at the same time it's been one of the worst weeks.
This week I would have a good first part of the day and then something bad would happen and it was so easy to completely forget the good things that happened in my day. But when I start feeling like that I go to the place that I just can't help but feel like running around and leaping and spinning and well you get the point. And where is that certain place? My favorite tree with a large rope ladder up to the perfect sitting spot. Because Im and introvert and an adventurer I could stay in the tree for hours just going higher and higher and seeing things from a different perspective. So all in all its just been one of those weeks but I guess there's always next week!

Lately Loverly

Today we found a turtle in our yard. When I first picked him up he hissed at me and started moving his legs so fast he looked like he was having a muscle spasm so I just let him go. But here are some pictures!

"who's a pretty turtle?"
Put me down!
No, Im not a big fan of cilantro
Oh! its so far down!
 you can't see me?

------------------------------------------------------------
Did y'all have a good Easter? Mine was really good. After we went to the first service we helped in the classrooms with making resurrection rolls oh yum! butter + crescent rolls + marshmallows + sugar= Amazingness. Oh, and on Saturday I got to help blow up a lot of colorful balloons with ... get this, tanks of helium! After church we went to our friends' house, had lunch, and played games like kickball, capture the flag, and a crazy kind of tag until 9.30 pm. I was so sore I could barely walk or sit down but it was all worth it.

This is sometimes what happens when I
try to touch my not so tactile sister:)

A garage sale adventure

This morning My mom, Toots, and I woke up early and dragged ourselves out of bed, piled in the car, and drove to a garage sale we had seen advertised for in the paper. sadly the fist sale was quite a disappointment. We hadn't had breakfast so we stopped and got something to eat. I got a chocolate chip scone and some chocolate soy milk.
We decided to stop at one more sale and I'm glad we did. At the second one we met a kind old lady who chatted with us and would say stuff like "Oh, my husband and I always used to play this game and it is so fun I think you girls would really like it." At this sale I got a treasure, an antique stuffed cat with stitching on it's face. Toots got an antique copy of the book "Christy" by Catherine Marshal and the grand total for those two items was only $1.25!

This little adventure was worth getting up early and I hope I can go on another adventure soon and I wish you guys could come with me!
What is your favorite thrifting treasure?
LOVE and calico cats,

Its on days like these...

Right now I'm sitting on my bedroom floor, a cool breeze is blowing through my window, and my ears are filled with the sound of heavy rain beating down on our back patio. It's on days like these that I just want to ditch my school and curl up on my bed with a good book and a warm cup of tea... but I decide to go to the gym for 2 hours instead. Its on days like these that I get very inspired to become a children's book author and move to Paris... but because I have a hard time getting the stories from my head to the paper I just keep them in my noggin for safe  keeping. When its raining buckets along with the occasional clap of thunder or bolt of lightning instead of reading on my bed I want to make a fort out of old sheets and broomsticks ... but because that would take a long time to clean up so I put a blanket over my head instead. Its on days like these that I wish I was a photographer so I could capture such a beautiful sight in on picture... but I think my mind will work just as well as a camera. Its on days like these that your mind comes alive with stories, things to act out or pretend, or maybe just  a design for the worlds coolest tree house. What kind of inspiration comes to your mind when it rains or when are you most inspired?
LOVE and a great big hug,
-Babycakes
P.S. Im considering renaming and redesigning my blog any Ideas?
